News!!! Otunba Alao Akala to contest for Oyo Gov 2015?
FORMER governor of Oyo State, Chief
Adebayo Alao-Akala, has reiterated that he
remains the man that will streamline the
number of aspirants for the forthcoming
Oyo State governorship election under the
platform of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in the state.
Chief Alao-Akala made this disclosure on
Tuesday, while responding to call by the
five local governments in Ogbomoso,
during a zonal meeting at his Opadoyin
Akala house, Ogbomoso, calling him to
contest 2015 governorship election.
One of the leaders of the party in the local
governments, Chief Adebayo Oyewusi,
a.k.a Omiya, after the zonal meeting,
informed journalists that the group decided
to adopt Chief Alao-Akala because of his
antecedent while in office.
In his acceptance speech, the former
governor said he could not reject the call of
his people because “charity begins at
home. The journey has just begun. I’ve
accepted their request, I can’t do
otherwise. Sooner than later, I will come
out and tell the whole world.”
He said “I am the best person to put a stop
to the race from becoming an all-comers
race and I will make my intention known in
few days’ time. I am coming to stabilise
Oyo politics. When I return, I know I have
only four years but I will put up a structure
that will enable that PDP continue to rule
Oyo State forever.”
On the alleged factional crisis rocking the
party, the former governor said nothing of
such exists. He noted that people
misunderstood the largeness of the party
for crisis.
He, however, hinted that he has never
shared their view of calling for dissolution
of the party state executive members.
According to him, “There is no crisis in
PDP, when the good man is leading,
everybody will fall in, the party is big and
there is always a building in mechanism.”
